Staff & Leadership

The staff and leadership here at Angier UMC is comprised of people

who love the Lord and care and pray for every person in the church.

If you have any questions for any of our leadership team,

feel free to reach out and contact them.

  • Pastor Ray Teague and his wife Elaine both grew up in Ohio where they recently returned from celebrating their 50th class reunion.  They also celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2018.  Pastor Ray served in the Navy for 6 years and their son, David was born at Portsmouth Naval Hospital.  They have lived in North Carolina since 1979, so North Carolina is home.

Their son, David is married to Theresa and they have one daughter, 11-year-old Rhiannon.  Pastor Ray's Mom will turn 88 this fall and resides in Cary.

Pastor Ray and Elaine both love to read.  Pastor Ray's sabbath is doing pottery.  Elaine likes to walk, knit and work in the yard.  Time with family is especially important to them.  They both are thrilled to have a beautiful, loving new family at Angier UMC.

  • Beverly Hall

    Church and Financial Administrator

Beverly Hall is a graduate of Campbell University in Health Sciences and has been a member of Angier UMC since 2007.  In 2009, she retired after 32 years of working in the field of Radiation Protection with the NC State Government.  After spending a few years as a family caregiver, she missed the interactions with friends and the public. Angier UMC was blessed to snag her in the Spring of 2016, when she decided to re-enter the work world!

Beverly grew up in Red Springs, NC and has been married to her high school sweetheart Gene for 42 years. They have two sons, and two grandsons, Brett and Lincoln, who are the love of her life! She is quick to tell you that the reward for suffering through the teenage years of raising your own children is to have grandchildren! She also has a 4.5 lb Yorkie, Otis, that rules the home! Her other interests includes reading, quilting, crocheting and browsing in antique stores.

She is the master scheduler, professional question answerer, administrative wiz and premier balancer of the books around here... in other words, she keeps us all straight!

  • Dendy Askins

    Director of Music

Dendy fell in love with Angier United Methodist Church over 16 years ago when she was the Choir Director and Children’s Music Director back in the early 2000’s. She had the opportunity to return over three years ago, and jumped at the chance to embrace the challenges of leading the Chancel Choir at the 11:00 Worship Service. She has definitely found a home at AUMC and loves the music that she can bring to the choir and congregation on a weekly basis.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill a long time ago (back when you did term papers on a typewriter and shared one hall phone for twenty or so students to be able to call home on Sundays)! She received her Bachelor of Music Education and taught in both Wake and Harnett Counties. As a matter of fact, she was a music teacher for Harnett Primary and Angier Elementary (just down the road from the church) in the early 2000’s.

Besides working at AUMC, she teaches private vocal/piano students in her home. And, because she is easily bored, works part time as a sales associate at Talbots in Cary Town Center. Anyone daunted by the task of finding women’s clothing that fit and actually look good, should look for her to help put a wardrobe together. She does all the shopping and you come in and just try on!!

Her hobbies are golf and gardening, in that order. She constantly works at bringing her handicap down on the golf course, and keeping her plants alive and healthy during the hot summer months here in central NC. She started her first vegetable garden this summer, with the engineering of raised beds built by her husband, Hal. It has been a growing and learning experience, but the squash and tomatoes are so worth the effort!

She and her husband, Hal, are empty nesters as of a year ago, when their only daughter, Laura, married and moved to Asheville, NC. To keep them both company, they have a one year old Shorkie (part Yorkie, part ShiZu) that keeps them quite busy.

She would love to have more singers join the choir for Worship on Sundays. At least give it a try…you might be pleasantly surprised about how easy it is to make a Joyful Noise!
